A short biography of Professor Brooks: George A. Brooks is Distinguished Professor of Integrative Biology, at the University of California, Berkeley. He has 50+ years of experience in metabolic research, spanning from whole body level in humans to cellular scale. He is a pioneer of particularly lactate research and his studies have been cited >30 000 times. His work has appeared in PNAS and various other prestigious journals. He has summarized his lactate work and that of others in Cell Metabolism (The Science and Translation of Lactate Shuttle Theory – Cell Metab. 2018 Apr 3;27(4):757-785.) and more recent ideas and results can be read in their Nature Metabolism study in regards to postprandial lactate shuttle (Nat Metab. 2024 Apr;6(4):670-677.).
