InFLAMES researcher Professor Paulina Salminen’s article chose as one of the most important articles to clinical medicine and public health

Professor Paulina Salminen’s article “Antibiotic Therapy vs Appendectomy for Treatment of Uncomplicated Acute Appendicitis: The APPAC Randomized Clinical Trial”, published June 2016, was nominated for the TOP10 articles most important to clinical medicine and public health of the past decade (2010-2019) by the JAMA (Journal of American Medical Association) Editors. The research showed clearly that antibiotics could replace surgical treatment when it comes to uncomplicated acute appendicitis. The JAMA articles were assessed by views and citations and curated by JAMA editors. JAMA is the most widely circulated general medical journal in the world and it’s Impact Factor is 45.5.
