Professor Paulina Salminen’s article “Antibiotic Therapy vs Appendectomy for Treatment of Uncomplicated Acute Appendicitis: The APPAC Randomized Clinical Trial”, published June 2016, was nominated for the TOP10 articles most important to clinical medicine and public health of the past decade (2010-2019) by the JAMA (Journal of American Medical Association) Editors. The research showed clearly that antibiotics could replace surgical treatment when it comes to uncomplicated acute appendicitis.
