Postdoctoral Researcher (Cancer Immunobiology and Immunotherapy)
The Medical Immune Oncology Research Group (MIORG, https://www.miorg.fi/), as part of the Institute of Biomedicine at the University of Turku, is seeking an enthusiastic and competent Postdoctoral Researcher to a project related to cancer immunobiology and immunotherapy. The group is led by Adjunct Professor Rogerio De Figueiredo, who is an Academy Research Fellow and InFLAMES collaborator. This is an international cancer research group, and English is the main spoken and written language in the group. The project employs cutting-edge technologies and state-of-the-art approaches to immune profile metastatic cancer samples and bioanalysis of animal and human tissues using flow cytometry.
The selected candidate is expected to start in April (or as agreed). The post can currently be filled until 31 May 2023. The extension of the post beyond this date will be decided separately during the spring of 2023, and it may continue until 30 November 2023.
A successful applicant should hold a Ph.D. degree in a relevant discipline (cell biology, molecular biology, biomedicine, biochemistry, immunology, and correlated areas), and have experience in single-cell staining for flow cytometry. Experience in drug discovery, drug preparation and appropriate design of functional controls for pharmacodynamic studies is mandatory.
The following are considered as an advantage for the applicant:
- Animal work experience and a license for animal work in Finland
- Competence in tissue culture methods and experience in processing human/animal samples
- Sufficient skills with RNAisolation, quantitative RT-PCR, protein isolation, western blot, and ELISA assays
- Experience with tissue immunofluorescence techniques
- Experience with statistics and bioinformatics
- Experience in CyTOF
- R programming skills
In addition, the successful candidate should show initiative and independence on the bench, possess good communication skills, and have the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

There is a trial period of up to half the duration of the contract.
Salary
The salary is determined by the collective agreement system of Finnish universities. The position belongs to the category of teaching and research personnel. The salary will be in the range of 3226-3500 eur/month depending the candidate’s previous experience.
