Not all immune cells attack. Some keep the peace.
On 29 April 2026, the International Day of Immunology will shine a spotlight on Regulatory T Cells (Tregs), the immune system’s gatekeepers of tolerance and balance. These specialized cells help prevent autoimmunity, limit chronic inflammation, and maintain harmony across immune responses. Without them, the system turns on itself.
This year’s campaign explores how Tregs preserve immune stability in complex environments — from the gut to the brain — and how understanding their role is reshaping our approach to cancer, infection, and autoimmune disease.
Join IUIS and EFIS in raising global awareness of Tregs and their critical role in immune health through this coordinated, worldwide campaign.
