Dr. Inna Starskaia has been awarded prestigious three-year postdoctoral fellowship

Dr. Inna Starskaia has been awarded a prestigious three-year postdoctoral fellowship from Breakthrough T1D, the leading global type 1 diabetes research and advocacy organization.

The funded project, titled “In-depth analysis of immune response to identify changes associated with progression and endotypes of type 1 diabetes”, will apply state-of-the-art genomics, deep immune profiling, and advanced computational tools to study changes of immune response and correlate them with clinical measurements to better understand the different pathogenic mechanisms underlying type 1 diabetes and open the possibility for prediction and prevention of the disease.

The research aims to identify novel biomarkers and disease stratifiers associated with disease progression, potentially contributing to the development of more effective and personalized therapeutic strategies.

The study will be carried out in Professor Riitta Lahesmaa’s research group at the Turku Bioscience Centre, University of Turku. The group belongs to the InFLAMES Research Flagship.

This award recognizes the high potential and impact of the proposed research and will significantly contribute to advancements in the field of type 1 diabetes research.
