Damien Kaukonen
Senior Researcher, PhD
InFLAMES Flagship
University of Turku
My foundation has been mathematics and biology, particularly oncology, immunology, molecular biology, and microbial ecology. My primary focus has been breast cancer from multiple approaches. I'm also currently stationed 50% at the Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics Department at Karolinska Institutet
I have a lot of experience in;
- Single-cell, nuclear capture, and bulk RNA-seq
- CUT&Tag, CUT&RUN, and ChIP-seq
- Genome and exome sequencing (GWAS and SNP studies)
- Epidemiological modelling and analysis
- Advanced biostatistics methods, such as likelihood ratios, multivariate modeling, flexible parametric modeling, relative risk ratios.
- Machine learning (pattern recognition, support vector machines, random forest models).
- R and unix programming
I have some experience in;
- Methylation analysis
- ATAC-seq
- Proteomics
- Machine learning for image processing
- Other biostatistical modelling, such as Bayesian statistics and Mixed Effect models
- Python, matlab, and octave programming.
