Immunological journal club is coming back!

With the launch of the ImmuDocs program in January 2025, we are excited to announce the revival of the immunological journal club (iJC).

The iJC is dedicated to presenting and dissecting some of the most influential immunological papers that have significantly shaped our understanding of the field, saysthe leader of the Journal Club, associate professor Alex Mildner,

-We will explore landmark studies that led to Nobel Prize-winning discoveries, papers showcasing innovative and out-of-the-box thinking, and important manuscripts that all immunologists should be familiar with, Alex sums up.

The focus of the club will not be limited to successful studies alone.

-We also plan to critically analyze papers that contain evident errors and were retracted. By examining these papers, participants will learn to assess the strengths and weaknesses of various studies, gaining a deeper understanding of experimental design, data interpretation, and scientific accuracy. This dual approach will provide a comprehensive understanding of both successful and flawed scientific efforts.

Alex Mildner states that iJC is more than just a mandatory academic course; it is a vital platform for enhancing critical thinking, broadening knowledge, self-motivation and sharpening participants’ analytical skills.

-Our iJC discussions will encourage you to challenge established norms and consider the broader implications of research findings. Furthermore, it will provide a collaborative space for students, faculty, and researchers to share their expertise and passion for scientific research. And maybe most importantly: we promise, it will be fun!

The iJC is part of the ImmuDocs program but all students and staff are welcome. The course starts at the January 20. The club will meet every Monday at 15:00 o’clock in the MediCity 4th floor seminar room.
