Associate Professor Xiang-Guo Li’s research team (https://li.utu.fi ) at Turku PET Centre, University of Turku, Finland, is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher for a fixed term position starting immediately or at the latest in January 2026 (starting date negotiable). The employment duration is two (2) years. It can possibly be extended.
This project is to study the roles of monocarboxylate transporters (mainly MCT1 and MCT4) in cancer neuroscience with positron emission tomography (PET) as an imaging and quantification tool. We focus on brain tumors, and we develop novel radiolabeled probes to investigate how the nervous system contributes in brain tumor initiation, progression, and treatment resistance, and how brain tumors cause neurological implications. The study will be performed mainly in mice. Tissue immunostaining and cell study will be carried out to some extent.
Job description
The post-doctoral researcher will be responsible for designing and conducting the studies, analyzing and reporting the data, and supervising Master degree students etc.
Who we are looking for
We are seeking for an aspiring individual with strong motivation and skills in brain tumor research and/or neuroscience in mouse models. Research experience in PET/MRI imaging and radiation work is not a requirement, but considered beneficial. Strong skills of scientific English writing are highly appreciated. The candidate is expected to have a doctoral degree in biochemistry, biology, biomedicine, pharmacology, medicine or related subjects. Candidates must have a Doctor’s degree by the closing date for applications.

Salary and trial period
The salary is determined in accordance with the University salary system for teaching and research personnel. The salary will be based on demand levels 5-6, where the task-specific salary component is 3491-4071 euros per month. In addition, a personal work performance component will be paid.
A six (6) month trial period applies to the position.
