 r in Biomedical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology\, the Ne
 therlands. His research is focused on computational modelling of angiogene
 sis for tissue engineering applications.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nAchieving a full un
 derstanding and control of angiogenesis\, the formation of new blood vesse
 ls from a pre-existing vasculature\, is one of the key challenges to advan
 ce the field of tissue engineering. This process is regulated by several c
 ross-talking cell signalling pathways\, which vary over time and space. Pe
 rturbing their spatiotemporal dynamics is a promising recent trend in tiss
 ue engineering. Computational models can be a game-changer in this context
 \; they can be combined with cell experiments to unravel the spatiotempora
 l interactions of different pathways and to optimize engineering technique
 s.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nOverall\, Dr. Ristori’s presentation will give a glimps
 e into computational simulations as a method to study biological phenomena
  and will be interesting for bioscientists in fields other than vasculatur
 e research and tissue engineering as well. The seminar is organized in con
 junction with the InFLAMES Flagship and the Åbo Akademi University Founda
 tion’s Center of Excellence in Cellular Mechanostasis (CellMech).
