 s Martin is the holder of the Smurfit Chair of Medical Genetics at Trinity
  College Dublin\, Ireland. Martin has an international reputation in the f
 ield of programmed cell death\, which plays a key role in the development 
 and function of the immune system. His work is especially focused on the l
 inks between cell death\, inflammation and cancer. He is also a co-author 
 of the 11th\, 12th and 13th editions of the major Immunology textbook 'Ess
 ential Immunology' and is Editor-in-Chief of The FEBS Journal\, a leading
