SUMMARY:Immunology Seminar: Doreen Cantrell\, University of Dundee\, UK:
 “Fuelling T cells”
DESCRIPTION:Immunology Seminar\n\nSeptember 6th at 14:00 – 15:00\n\nVirtu
al event\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nDoreen Cantrell\, University of Dundee\, UK: “Fue
lling T cells”\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThe eTALK is arranged via zoom and the link
to join is:  https://utu.zoom.us/j/65936684124\n\nWhen joining the meeti
ng you are directed to a waiting room and you will be admitted to meeting
at 14.00.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nImmunology seminar series is jointly organised by
the Finnish Society for Immunology\, InFLAMES Flagship and Turku Bioscienc
 e. For further information contact Anne Lahdenperä (ankahy@utu.fi) or Rii
tta Lahesmaa (rilahes@utu.fi)\, University of Turku.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nDoreen
Cantrell studied Zoology at The University College of Wales in Aberystwyth
and then did a PhD in Cellular Immunology at the University of Nottingham
. She made the move to do a postdoctoral fellowship at Dartmouth Medical S
chool in New Hampshire to work with Kendall Smith on the control of T cell
growth and proliferation. A second postdoctoral fellowship with Michael C
rumpton at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund Laboratories (ICRF) in London
launched her interest in biochemistry/signal transduction and provided th
e impetus for the establishment of the Lymphocyte Activation Laboratory wi
thin the ICRF. After 15 years as a Principal Investigator in ICRF\, the aw
ard of a Wellcome Trust Principal Research Fellowship in 2002 provided the
mechanism to move Doreen’s group to the University of Dundee. As world
leading Centre for Life Sciences research provides perfect environment for
Doreen’s program to study how serine/threonine kinases control T cell i
mmune responses. Doreen continues to work on signal transduction pathways
 in T lymphocytes.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nSelected publications:\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nSincl
