SUMMARY:Frontiers of Science: Prof. Simon Robson
DESCRIPTION:Frontiers of Science\n\nMarch 6th at 12:00\nOnsite event\nin Pr
 esidentti auditorium\, BioCity\nSpring 2025 program\n\nProf. Simon Robson\
 , Harvard Medical School\, USA\nReciprocal targeting of ENTPD/CD39 ectonu
cleotidases to inflame tumors and restore homeostasis\nHost: Gennady Yegut
kin (genyeg@utu.fi)\n\nCoffee and sandwich at 11:45\, first come first ser
ved!\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nSix PhD researchers and early-career postdocs are welco
me to have a lunch and discuss with Prof. Robson after the seminar. This i
s a great possibility to learn hosting skills in a friendly environment an
d create connections for future. Everyone is welcome to join\, BioCity Tur
ku will offer the lunch.\n\nIf you got interested\, please send an email t
 o biocityturku@bioscience.fi\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nSimon Robson is a globally reco
gnized leader in the field of purinergic signaling\, holds the prestigious
Charlotte F. and Irving W. Rabb Professorship of Medicine in Harvard and
serves as Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Anesthesia\, Critica
l Care at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr. Robson’s pioneering
work on ectonucleotidases\, particularly CD39\, has revealed its crucial r
oles in T cells and endothelial cells\, with broad implications for chroni
 c inflammatory diseases\, cancer\, and transplantation. His foundational d
iscoveries have had substantial translational impact\, with ongoing clinic
al trials exploring CD39-targeted therapies for cancer. His current resear
ch continues to expand knowledge of purinergic signaling in immune-related
diseases\, including cancer and inflammatory bowel disease\, with promisi
ng potential for clinical application. Dr. Robson’s combined scientific
and medical expertise makes his talk highly relevant to both scientists an
 d clinicians.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nSelected publications\n\nFeng L\, Zhang H\, Ma
