SUMMARY:Frontiers of Science: Prof. Shelley Minteer
DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;\n\nMay 16th at 12:00\nOn-site event\nPresidentti audito
 rium\, BioCity\nSpring 2024 program\n\nProf. Shelley Minteer\, University
of Utah\, USA\nEnzymes as electrocatalysts\nHost: Yagut Allahverdiyeva (al
lahve@utu.fi)\n\nCoffee and sandwich at 11:45\, first come first served!\n
\n&nbsp\;\n\nSix PhD researchers and early-career postdocs are welcome to
have a lunch in restaurant Mauno and discuss with Prof. Minteer after the
seminar. This is a great possibility to learn hosting skills in friendly e
nvironment and create connections for future. Everyone is welcome to join\
, BioCity Turku will offer the lunch.\n\nIf you got interested\, please se
nd an email to biocityturku@bioscience.fi\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThe Minteer Group
focuses on improving the abiotic-biotic interface between biocatalysts and
electrode surfaces for enhanced bioelectrocatalysis. These biocatalysts i
nclude microbial cells\, organelles (mitochondria and thylakoid membranes)
\, redox proteins\, and oxidoreductase enzymes. We design electrode struct
ures for enhanced flux at electrode surfaces for biosensor and biofuel cel
l applications. The group utilizes a variety of electroanalytical techniqu
es (linear polarization\, cyclic voltammetry\, differential pulse voltamme
try\, differential pulse amperometry)\, as well as a variety of biological
and spectroscopic techniques to accomplish these goals. The group also ha
s an active program in electrocatalysis for synthetic organic electrochemi
 stry.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nSelected publications\n\nOlja Simoska\, Dale A. Cummin
