  welcome to join an inspiring seminar by Prof. Bishr Omary. Omary is a Pro
 fessor of Biomedical Science at Rutgers University in New Jersey\, USA\, a
 nd Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Research at Rutgers Hea
 lth Campus. On May 23 he will become an Honorary Doctor at Åbo Akademi Un
 iversity\, Faculty of Science and Engineering.\n\nOmary’s research focus
 es on rare diseases that cause damage to the liver\, skin and other tissue
 s. His work has led to seminal findings of molecular disease mechanisms\, 
 for example on the role and posttranslational regulation of intermediate f
 ilament keratins and lamins in gastrointestinal epithelia using disease mo
 dels and in patients. His studies have led to several patents related to m
